Fishing Holidays in Cuba
We are a licensed British operator based in Cuba providing the best sports fishing
opportunities that this unique Caribbean island has to offer with prices that are
affordable to the angler who is looking for new and exciting adventures. We have
also designed our fishing packages to suit those anglers who wish to bring along
non-angler families and companions.
Bone, Tarpon, Permit Sports Fishing
Cuba is one of the most unspoiled areas in the Caribbean region for spectacular
fishing. Salt water fly fishing has become more and more popular in the last few
years. As many people take up this exciting sport, it is necessary to find more
challenging places to fish and we have found virginal bone fishing like nowhere
else on earth.
Cuba has a huge variety of water types, river mouths and lagoons, endless salt water
flats, channels between islands all perfect for fly fishing, surface popping and
trolling. Tarpon fishing is becoming more and more popular and as such, it gets
ever increasingly more difficult to source and secure good tarpon fishing grounds.
We have now found excellent tarpon fishing grounds in Cuba to please the most demanding
angler. The remoteness of these areas has only helped in it retaining its uniqueness
and fantastic fishing. It's not the easiest place to get to but that's the advantage.
We have researched all the pros and cons so your trip will be as smooth as possible.
Other than the Florida Keys, this is perhaps the best place in the world to catch
a big permit on a fly. There are both good numbers of big permits and superb permit
flats to be found. Flats that are barely out of the water or just below the surface
at low tide are two to three feet deep on a high incoming tide - perfect habitat
for the largest permit. Many of these flats are bordered by deep water- exactly
the same kind of conditions you see in the Florida Keys where most of the world
record permit have been caught. It is not uncommon to pole up to these flats and
see a half a dozen permit tailing, all of which are in the 25-35 pound class! Zapata
is one of the few spots in the world where you have a very real opportunity to catch
a grand slam - any day of the year! …
